Two new products!

Postby PK » Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:54 pm

Well, one and a half..

We've made a few in house boards for the Clust-o-maitc airstart controllers that were developed in this thread

You can get them here

The half product is a single cell Lithium Piolymer charger that runs from a USB port

Both of these projects have been produced as a batch of prototype boards. If y'all wan't 'em then we'll do a production run.

Does the charge-o-matic work with the 500mAh 3cell batteries you have for sale?

Good question!
No.

The charge-o-matic will only charge a single LiPo cell, the 500mAH batteries are 3 cell.

At a pinch you could use it to charge one cell at a time via the balance connector, but that'd get pretty boring.

We'll ship the batteries mostly charged. If you work out how much energy is consumed (worst case):

14000mA x 4 chanells x 2 seconds=112000mAS or 31mAH. you should get at least 10 flights before you need to borrow someones LiPo charger..

Multi cell LiPo chargers are a little more complex than single cell jobbies.
You can get 'em pretty cheap though:
See

for a mains powered unit.

and

For one you can use in the paddock.

The postman delivered my Clust-o-matic today. Sweet!!! No self-respecting, half-misguided cluster-fanatic should set foot on a rocket range without a Clust-o-matic.

Thank you Whooshtonics!!!

I tried emailing earlier today but not sure if it made it through...

I bought a clust-o-matic a few weeks ago and had some troubles with it during my first launch attempt with it a week ago.

The intention was for a 3 motor high power cluster launch. I hooked up the three igniters to the clust-o-matic and plugged the battery in before connecting the switch terminals. The igniters blew out immediately. Blake was giving me a hand so I was comfortable that user error could be ruled out.

I gave it another try later in the week with one low power igniter, without the switch terminals connected the igniter blew as soon as the battery was connected.

Is there any input you can give me???
