I just test fired my first reloadable motor!

Always a worry the first time!

As for cleaning, I was recommended to use baby wipes and they do a fantastic job!

Also, remember to clean them up relatively soon after a launch. It gets more difficult if you leave it for a number of weeks :( as I found out. Not impossible, just more time.

I put my first attempt at a reload in a rocket... optimist, or overconfident? It worked, anyway. :)

As for cleaning, it's not too difficult. My routine (which works pretty well for me) is:

- jar big enough to hold the disassembled casing and closures
- cheap white vinegar
- old toothbrush
- paper towel

1. disassemble the motor and get rid of all the spent reload components
2. put all the reusable parts in the jar, cover with vinegar, let them sit and agitate occasionally
3. pull out the components one at a time, dip the toothbrush in the jar and scrub
4. use rolled paper towel to dry the components thoroughly, and also to scrub out the nozzle of the forward closure
5. lightly grease the threads of the closures, reassemble, store, and start dreaming of the next launch

I should probably try to get my first composite single use lit before trying a reload.

Stuart sent this pic/video link of the day via Eric, No 2 is a video of the drag race:

Great day, we did well in that wind!

Motors to the fore. Let the air through the rocket. Fins are a drag. The paint is the payload.

Hey Guys!

It was great to meet every one and launch some rockets in very challenging weather!

I've got a link to Sacha's rocket that was sacrificed
