Rocketry Vic Aug Launch

Based in the greater Melbourne region, MARS is the home of amateur rocketry in Victoria. (Not to be confused with the planet, we are much closer than the planet and operate less rovers)

Was an awesome flight Troy - one of the coolest I've ever seen

Here is the footage, with kind permission...As I mentioned, a bit out of focus but the sound was mind-blowing.

Turn this one up if you can 8)

David, it was an experimental hybrid that's been specifically designed to be an HPR crowd-pleaser. I normally fly that combustion chamber with a 3.5L tank, but this flight was with an extended version of that tank. The tanks are used/disposed gas analysis canisters that I cut and join together. They fit perfectly inside 90mm PostPak tubing to also double as great tube couplers:)

Cheers,

Troy

TP's hybrids have always been a crowd pleaser. For those who have not seen this before, this is one my favourite rocketry memories that will be quoted for decades to come!

Well… I’m sure our NZ friends will back me up on this, but if you carefully listen to the lamb in the background of the Serpentine video, he’s pretty much conveying the same message: GO GO BABY!!! GO INTO ORBIT!!! :P

That was a super cool flight...and commentary, it was priceless to actually be there and watch it live. Definitely a launch to remember!

Thanks for the nice comments on the photos.

I can explain! I can explain! :P

The inspiration for the overenthusiastic coaxing was that there was still a visible plume when I actually said that. It was the only time I've flown a hybrid so close to dusk and the plume was visible for what seem like an eternity!

For anyone that witnessed the launch, it was incredible and well deserving of the out burst! It seriously looked like a satellite travelling across the sky it burned for that long.
