Notice/Reminder of May Serpentine Launch

Based in the greater Melbourne region, MARS is the home of amateur rocketry in Victoria. (Not to be confused with the planet, we are much closer than the planet and operate less rovers)

Postby rocket_troy » Wed May 14, 2014 3:02 pm

Just a friendly reminder that our next launch is scheduled as a 2 day event on the 24th/25th of May - weather permitting.
Normal ceilings and instruments in place. Normal location (Serpentine). More info will be published as it becomes available.

Any questions - contact me.

I hope the forecast for next weekend gets better as the week progresses. Currently not so good. :(

Yeah, not the best of outlooks, but if it does change, it wouldn't be the 1st time. We'll likely be making a call midweek - maybe Wednesday, however it's likely to be a single day event if the outlook changes enough for a positive call.

Stay tuned,

Troy.

Nah, bugger all that...

The official local more optimistic forecast from the Bureau of Jaseology is in for this weekend:

Does anyone have one of the delay drill tools for the CTI 29mm motors that they could bring to the launch? A lend of it on the day would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if anyone has a 24" nylon chute they would like to sell me on the day it would be good. I need another for my Nike Apache and can't seem to find one amongst my stuff.

I've got a CTI delay adjustment tool with the 29mm adapter which I will have with me (and you are most welcome to borrow on the day). No spare chute, however.

The Serpentine launch is a *go* for a single day event on Sunday 25th, but with a limited ceiling of 11,000ft for the day. The forecast is "partly cloudy" for Bendigo and "mostly sunny" for the district. The instrument will close at 4pm.

More info about directions and scheduling can be found on the TRAAU/Rocketry Vic website: http://www.tripoli.org.au

Any Questions, please contact me.
