As we cross three months out from the event, we are excited to have one of the biggest names in rocketry confirm their attendance at Australian Rocketry's Thunda Down Under 2015.

Straight from the Get Your Butt to Thunda! Issue 4:

Guess who’s coming to town?

This morning, ARTDU 2015 organisers, Blake and Nic had the pleasure of chatting with an absolute legend of of the rocketry world. A former NASA engineer and well known for his amazing literature, the team at ARTDU 2015 are very excited to announce this very special guest will be coming Down Under in March 2015.

In the rocketry scene, he is probably best known for the book ‘Rocket Boys’ and movie‘October Sky’. If you haven’t already guessed it, Homer Hickam and his lovely wife Linda are now ready to take on an adventure of a life time in Australia.

Homer is confirmed as a guest speaker at the ‘Banquet Under the Stars’, which will undoubtedly be a highlight of Thunda Down Under 2015. For those who have not yet registered for the banquet, spots are almost full, so get in before it’s too late, not to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity: http://thunda.com.au/rocketry-information/registration/

We will be working with Linda and Homer to make sure there is opportunities to grab a photo and autographed copy of one of the fantastic titles on offer. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

Very exciting news! Thunda is truly shaping up to be THE rocket event to get to next year.

This is really amazing news indeed ! This whole thing really started 8 years ago as Blake would remember with our friendship with Linda ( QRS held it's first official launch on the 20th of May, 2007, Linda's birthday) and Homer.

This is absolute dream come through personally to me and I know for Blake & many others. 8)

Well there is now 1 less seat at the banquet. Couldn't miss this.

This is sensational news!

I might have to get a new copy of "Rocket Boys" if it is going to be available at the launch and get it signed by Homer (along with my DVD). I purchased my current copy when it was released as a paperback and it is in pretty average condition, I have read it 3 times and it has been loaned to a few people. :D

This is probably the best place to post this.

I just had a good read of the links that were sent out with the latest "Get your butt to Thunda" newsletter. The astronomy talk that David Reneke is giving at the Banquet under the Stars sounds fantastic! Reading what he's done over the years is certainly world class and I, for one, will be thoroughly enjoying it!

Here David is with some other unknown guy :)

I've heard David on ABC radio. He's an interesting and enthusiastic speaker. I'm looking forward to seeing his presentation.
