Was looking to get L1 at Thunda and this seems as good a way as any - if stock is still available count me in!

Keen to get and assemble on site, none of this RTF stuff!

All contestants should be aware that it is now mandatory that your nosecone be fitted with a standard house brick (unless your name is Jase)...

This was decreed in a secret ballot held somewhere, sometime ago, by someone. Not sure if you got the memo or not 8)

If your name is Sumo, or the like, you'll be required (by said decree) to fly with two standard house bricks fitted inside the nosecone :P

Arrr what's this me hearties? An official decree and he not speaks pirates? I smells a mutiny! 3 bricks for him i thinks lads and 2 beers penalty.

These kits will most likely be in a almost-ready-to-fly state, so there is absolutely no excuse not to participate!

The exact details will be released in the next few days, but the total cost will be less than $190 including everything required to fly (rocket, parachute, motor etc.)

Paint cans will be available for those who collect onsite to paint in true KoPiUs style on the field! ;-)

I have completed the prototype for the RTF "Drag Queen" rocket and managed to test fly it yesterday at the QRS launch.

First flight was on a H135W which left the pad like a top fuel drag car! This was very kewl to approximately 2400ft. After a short walk from Petar to collect DQ, we were able to repack it in about 5min ready for the real test on the actual I280DM. I must admit, I needed to do a nervous pee after seeing the first flight, now with propellant sitting inches above the CP. Even with a stability margin of one caliber, DQ wiggled off the rail like a Nicki Minaj film clip! Shooting to a little over 4000ft, these are going to be incredible to watch when there is a whole stack of them lined up together!

DQ has a laser slotted airframe, coloured fibreglass fins and rings which not only make the kit super strong, but look awesome too! I will be making a small modification to increase the stability margin and most likely have these as 'ready-to-fly' due to the amount of stress they go through on that motor. If anyone would 100% prefer to assemble the air frame themselves, please let me know and you can do this on the field from Wednesday 11th, ready to fly on the Saturday 14th.

The package which includes everything needed to fly is available now here: http://ausrocketry.com.au/drag-queen.html
These will be sold on a first in first served basis and will be available for collection at Thunda Down Under 2015.

Nice one Blake, watched this go from up on the hill.

I suppose if I need to cut my nose weight down to only two bricks, I can accommodate that.

Order placed for an unassembled DQ. Wait, DQ is the short form of saying disqualified. I think something is going on here..

Ah well, seems legit.

Well ....who's got their rockets ready?

Finally got on a plane today........... headed your way bringing booze-chaos-mayhem, not necessarily in THAT order.

What yanks I know are coming ...will be seriously close to the on-camp bar for the duration.

I'm flying at Thunder.....with....or WITHOUT a rocket! LOL
