AMRS Insurance
What is the current status of AMRS insurance? There are rumours (?) that it hasn’t been renewed. Is this fact or fiction?

Re: AMRS Insurance
I think it would be great to see some sort of official statement from AMRS.

Re: AMRS Insurance
My original question regarding insurance was a genuine request, as a member of an AMRS affiliated club, to elicit confirmation from AMRS directly. The fact that the affiliated club can no longer operate under the current arrangement due to an insurance issue, suggests that all AMRS affiliated clubs are in the same situation. If this is the case, then it beggars belief that there has been no official notification to members directly, on the Forum, or even on the AMRS website.
This is definitely not an attempt to troll - quite the opposite. In the interests of openness and an obligation to keep members informed, it is an entirely appropriate request.

Re: AMRS Insurance
Can someone who directly knows anything about this confirm the status please? If the answer is unpalatable the members still deserve to know the status. Lack of information causes rumors to spread.

Re: AMRS Insurance
Here is a definitive statement from the MARS club, which I got today:
"We must inform you that the Australian Model Rocket Society, the parent body that provides MARS’ insurance, has not been able to renew its insurance for its clubs. This is due to a global loss in appetite to deal in any risks associated with fire, which is understandable due to the disastrous bushfires we’ve had here and even abroad. AMRS and MARS undertook a global search to find insurance that would benefit its membership without raising subscription fees dramatically, however, it was not able to do so. "

Re: AMRS Insurance
I'm so sorry to hear this, yet also unsurprised.
Heads up, many MARS members (or members who didn't rejoin due to the fires then covid) still don't seem to have been informed by email. I checked all of mine and spam and didn't see anything.
Thank you and hugs, mate, to Blake who is and always will be an amazing champion of Rocketry in Australia.
