Dog Barf/ cellulose insulation ??????

Postby vk2icj » Sat Nov 10, 2012 6:22 am

Hello All

Does Bunnings or some other supplier offer Dog Barf/cellulose insulation suitable for recovery wadding?
Where do you get your recovery wadding?

Thank you

I got my bale of the stuff from Bunnings. Only cost about $30.

Sometimes you will need to ask around for where it is kept as it's often hidden away somewhere (as they expect people to come in asking for 20 Bales, not 1 lol...).

There's usually some available for use at Doonside - just don't use it all

I have been away for most of October and we were not able to make any launches. If all goes well tonight we might have my son's rocket ready for the morning. If not we might still come and watch for a bit, unfortunately I have to work in the arvo so cannot stay all day. Thanks for the info

If you buy the party crepe paper streamers from somewhere reputable, like Spotlight, they make great cheap wadding and have fire retardants in them. Cheaper brands may keep burning. Easy to keep a roll in the launch box.

I phoned a local insulation company and bought a bale from them (they make it and sell it to installers). Had a good chat with the guy running the place and he was super excited to think his insulation was going up in rockets :)

The bale i got was *HUGE* - I filled 2x20L tubs that I've left at Serpentine for everyone's use and the rest I put into ziploc bags - enough to fill two 55L tubs. I think I paid about $15.

I've never seen it in Bunnings :(

Start phoning around. I found place in Melbourne that manufactures it and was happy to sell a bale.

A quick google turned up a few places you can start with -

If anyone is *REALLY* set on getting some dog barf and can't find it locally, I can post out bags of what I have.

Thanks, Krusty.
I also found the Bankstown association through Google.
This is probably the most convenient, as one of our members is within spitting distance.
I'll give them a call

Hi all,

Looking for some help here, has anyone tracked down a recent supplier in NSW (Sydney Area) for this stuff. It appears that the sources listed hear have all but evaporated.

Thanking you in advance...
David.

Cheers Ari, appreciate the offer.

I really need to track some down prior to THUNDA to be able to perform ground testing of the Patriot. My search continues... :(
