It would appear I was wrong AGAIN  I just dusted off some old clay tablets and found that solid state transistors were invented before I was born, however they weren't used commercially - transistor radios etc until after I was born. Hybrids didn't come into being untill the 60's (I think)
Which brings us back full circle to IIRC, - IOD

Folks

To re-boot this thread, I will post a few pics of my work horse hybrid that I have been using for the last couple of years. It is a much modified PML 2.1" Gamma - a so-called hybrid-ready model. It stands at about 2.2m. The black tube beside it is the Contrail 38mm/36" motor case.

The Gamma was originally a much shorter single deploy configuration. However, it has now grown a bit and is configured as a dual deploy with full redundancy. The avbay houses two PerfectFlite StratologgerCFs. The nosecone has a MAC Performance Rocketry nosecone bay with an Eggtimer Mini GPS inside.

My GSE includes a BOC size DE N2O tank and Pratt gauge and solenoid valve manifold. I have a selection of fill tubes for the 29mm Rattworks I90 and 38mm and 54 mm Contrail motors I currently have.

The launch controller is a fairly straight forward home-build.

Of course, there are the obligatory safety items!

Hey Voyager... thank you.
I find your work very impressive... and now that Aus has funding for a space agency you’re pretty much unlimited for trial and error. I expect to see something like this from you in the near future. See you later this year in Kelpie land.

Hmmm ... thanks 03flyer, but you'll have to wait a while for that level of action! You may have to settle for something a little more down market.

This is the PML Gamma in a single deploy configuration launching on a Contrail 38mm/36" I210 motor.

That’s pretty sweet bit of kit they’ve developed.

While we're posting launch videos, here is Troy's (as in @rocket_troy) hybrid flight from this month's Serpentine launch.

Very nice HH! Thank you.
What is the rocket? Motor? 38mm or 54mm?
What size N2O cylinders? Is that a DE in the insulation blanket?
I assume that the RF module is part of your wireless launch system?

You'd have to ask Troy, from memory the fin can is attached so maybe a 54mm... it's of his own design so maybe it's what fit with his body tube (which I think is glassed post tube)

What size N2O cylinders? Is that a DE in the insulation blanket?

There were two sets of equipment being shared between three people flying hybrids - Troy's cylinder is the D sized one wrapped in the blanket. The other (G?) was being used with the Contrail motors. Obviously different fittings.

I assume that the RF module is part of your wireless launch system?

The yellow lighting stand with the antenna is one from the general launch system for Serp (there's 4 boxes which handle 4 pads each); there was a wired system for the Contrail motors (name escapes me - the one they recommend) and Troy had his own setup which had it's own wireless module - again you'd have to ask him.

Hey, Cato
I find your work very inspiring and I’ve learned a lot from you so please don’t be offended by my question.
What’s holding you back from going Hybrid?

Those motors look sweet.
