QRS Workshops
Following on from the successful fiberglass rolling workshop held prior to the 2015 AGM, QRS is seeking any expressions of interest from members looking to attend further workshops later this year.
All workshops would be held at Australian Rocketry's World HQ in Jimboomba.
Previous proposals have included:
- water rocketry (thanks kitestring)
- 2-pack spray painting
- another fiberglass rolling
We have the facilities, expertise and enthusiasm in the club to run these sessions - what we need is to hear from our members the areas you would be interested in...
Post some suggestions here and the QRS committee will make it happen...

Re: QRS Workshops
Spray painting is of most interest to me. It's an issue I need to deal with in my current build...
Off the top of my head some other suggestions:
Vacuume bagging
Large motor assembly

Re: QRS Workshops
Seems a lot of people want to do the painting thing. Any ideas as to time frame? I'll be up in Brisbane the week before the April launch at Westmar and could maybe assist in the workshop?

Re: QRS Workshops
Following the forum posts and some offline discussions we will plan on holding a workshop on Fin Filleting and Spray Painting.
We'll do our best to align the workshop with Nic's Brisbane travel (i.e. early April) but are dependent on Blake's availability so the date is TBD.
Location will be at Australian Rocketry HQ in Jimboomba.
Stay tuned for more details....

Re: QRS Workshops
I'd like to express my interest in attending the workshop, any more word on the date?
Thanks,
Lachlan.

Re: QRS Workshops
The date for this workshop has now been set!
QRS will be holding a workshop on Fin Filleting and Spray Painting on Saturday 28 May from 9 am at Australian Rocketry's World HQ in Jimboomba.
Please note that if you intend bringing you own rocket a small contribution to cover the cost materials may be required.
If you don't have your own rocket ready don't worry, there will be rockets available for you to practice with at the workshop!
QRS will be providing drinks and snacks during the workshop so please use this thread to indicate whether you are intersted in attending so we have an idea of numbers.
See you on 28 May!

Re: QRS Workshops
Fantastic news, will definitely be there
Re: QRS Workshops
I'll be there too
OH WAIT A MINUTE...
The plan will be to have a range of 5.5" rockets at different levels of completion so everyone can work on different aspects of painting/gluing etc. These are Southern Cross Rocketry display rockets, so they all look pretty ready for shop fronts.

Re: QRS Workshops
Damn, I have another commitment, but would love to do this workshop.
Hopefully will get more chances.

Re: QRS Workshops
Just wish I could get the epiglue to fully cured on my rocket. It seams to remain just slightly tacky to touch. Tried using a heater but the misses got tired of her office being hot so turned it off
Cannot see I'll be ready to paint the thing by next weekend.
